How Pocket Plot Works

An Idea Is Onlythe Beginning

Sometimes a story begins with a thought, sometimes with a character, a conflict, or a world – and sometimes with something completely unexpected. The cards offer small prompts that you can connect, reshape, and continue in your own way. There is no right or wrong and no fixed destination. What matters is what you make of them.

Step by Step

How It Works

  1. 01

    Let yourself be inspired

Generate random elements for an entire story or only selected aspects.

  2. 02

    Make the story your own

A suggestion does not fit? Simply redraw it. Again and again.

  3. 03

    Keep experimenting

Add, remove, and redraw until the prompts begin to feel like your idea.

  4. 04

    Nothing is lost

The complete share link preserves your combination so it can be found or shared later.

Even MorePossibilities

Discover and create even more decks to make Pocket Plot even more versatile.

Sometimes your story can use something a little more specific. Additional decks bring new building blocks, themes, and unusual ideas into your inspiration or change which cards you can draw. You decide which decks fit your story – and you can add or remove them whenever you like.

The Deck Library has more decks for you to explore. And if you still cannot find the right one, you can create your own deck and decide for yourself which ideas and building blocks it brings into the mix.
